The Baron Growth Fund is designed for long-term capital appreciation, primarily by acquiring common stock in growth-oriented, small-sized U.S. companies. Its adviser, BAMCO, Inc., determines a company's "small-sized" status based on its market capitalization at the time of purchase. To qualify, a company's market cap cannot exceed the greater of two benchmarks: either the market capitalization of the largest component stock in the Russell 2000 Growth Index at its reconstitution, or a value of $2.5 billion.
