The fund's primary objective is to generate substantial capital growth over an extended period. It chiefly invests in a diversified collection of stocks from companies whose market values are notably smaller than those characterizing the overall U.S. market. Under typical conditions, a minimum of 80% of its net assets will be committed to equity holdings of small- and mid-capitalization firms. For the purposes of this strategy, "small- and mid-capitalization companies" are generally identified as those enterprises whose market capitalization, at the moment of investment, ranks within the lowest quarter of the entire U.S. equity market (excluding, for this specific measurement, companies with market capitalizations below $10 million).
